Kathy Griffin often makes headlines for her brash and brazen comments. Most recently, Griffin caught fire for a highly controversial photo of the comedienne beheading an effigy of President Donald Trump.

She’s been fielding backlash for the past several months, but behind the scenes, Griffin was facing a larger battle.

According to Daily Mail, Griffin felt the deep blow of personal loss three years ago when her 63-year-old brother, Gary, succumbed to a “brutal struggle” with esophageal cancer.

Unfortunately, the frightening illness still permeates her family. While Griffin’s generally kept quiet since the passing of her brother, recent pictures reveal that her sister, Joyce, is also battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.

And now, Griffin’s showing her solidarity with her sister in a major way.

Recent pictures posted by journalist Yashar Ali to Twitter on Monday show Griffin sporting a major change, all in tribute to her sister:

Ali shared two photos of the now-entirely bald Griffin, the first featuring Griffin’s mother, Maggie, who was a regular on “My Life on the D List,” cradling her daughters bare head.

The second photo showed a softer side of the 56-year-old, all smiles, with her iconic red hair nowhere to be seen.

Maggie took to Twitter to shout out her star daughter, calling her a “wonderful human being”:

Looks like fans agree, as many responded to the tweet with an outpouring of gratitude and support:

The news piggybacks off the most recent development that Griffin is no longer under federal investigation from the FBI after her graphic Trump photo shoot:

Now Griffin can shift her efforts and energy back to her family, where it belongs.
