From college sweethearts to the royal couple, eight years and three babies later, Kate Middleton and Prince William celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary and it was one to remember.
Queen Elizabeth II just gave her granddaughter-in-law a very special honor by giving her the highest possible rank for a British royal, confirmed the Royal Family.
Middleton was named as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, a position personally selected by the Queen and bestowed upon people she wants to publicly acknowledge for representing the Crown so well.
The prestigious Family Order came just weeks after Middleton, 37, and the Queen, 93, stepped out for a rare joint appearance to visit a new facility at King’s College in London.

Journalist Richard Fitzwilliams told Vanity Fair:
“Queen Victoria founded the Royal Victorian Order for personal services to the Monarch. This [is] the Queen showing her gratitude for the way Kate has conducted herself.”
“It’s the Queen’s way of acknowledging eight successful years of marriage and also the fact that the Duchess has produced three heirs, thereby securing the lineage of the House of Windsor. She has the beauty, the poise, the dedication and the reliability a Queen Consort needs.”
The Royal Victorian Order was invented in 1896 by Queen Victoria and given to those who helped the ruling monarch directly.
Other royal family members bestowed with the special gift include Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Harry.
