Kate Gosselin is heading back to reality television amid claims she hasn’t seen her son Collin since he moved with his dad — Kate’s ex-husband, Jon Gosselin.
According to E! News, earlier this week, Kate announced her new show that’s slated to be called “Kate Plus Date.”
Alongside her oldest twin daughters, 18-year-old Mady and Cara, Kate told the media and her fans what the show is all about. The new show will be airing on the same network as her first two reality series, TLC.
The president and general manager of TLC, Howard Lee, said while introducing the women on stage:
“Almost 10 years after her divorce and with diapers, bottles, and sleepless nights a thing of the past, Kate Gosselin is ready to find love or, at least, like. With the help of professional matchmakers and her college-bound daughters Mady and Cara, Kate dives back into the dating pool. She puts it all out there, the good, the bad, and the super awkward.”
Mady and Cara also revealed how excited they are to help their mom find love again.
Jon has been in a long-term relationship with his current girlfriend, Colleen, following his divorce from Kate in 2008.
Mady told the crowd:
“We’ve been nudging her to date for years. We’re all, all eight of us, are so glad that she finally is.”
Kate explained that her daughters play an important part in helping her find a man suitable for their lifestyle. However, the mom said that it was very important for the show to not come off as “cringey and uncomfortable”:
“I’m not a teenager, clearly. I’m 40-something, and there’s no other mom dating show out there.”
Kate also took the time to defend herself, her decision to keep her children on television, and her relationship with all eight of her children.
In regard to her decision to put her kids in front of the camera, she said:
“I feel like, more than anything, it has enriched their lives. It has made them world-wise and taught them a lot about people’s intentions I think more so than other kids their age.
I did it in a way that we live our real lives that that’s filmed, and anyone who has worked with us knows what we don’t do re-dos or retakes.”
“As far as Mady and Cara, particularly — and all the kids — I think that they’re such good girls that I don’t have to keep after them. They’re self-driven. They have goals and dreams, and they’re just good kids.”
Kate also assured the audience that she is “close” with all eight of her children.
As Dearly previously reported, Jon recently said on Instagram that Kate hasn’t seen her son, Collin, since he moved in with him.
In 2016, Kate made the decision to send Collin to a treatment center for his alleged “special needs,” which Jon has also went on record saying Collin is not on the spectrum or has any special needs.
