Just four days after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that they were expecting their third child, the couple’s oldest child, Prince George, is experiencing a major milestone himself: his first day of school.
On September 7, the 4-year-old and his father, Prince William, walked hand in hand as they were greeted by the head of the lower school.

Thirty years ago, William was dropped off on his first day of school by his mother, Princess Diana.
And much like his father, George was also only accompanied by one parent on the big day.
In 1987, Prince Charles missed William’s first day of school because he was stuck in a snowstorm. Kate was forced to miss George’s first day because of her battle with hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition that causes severe nausea in women during pregnancy.
On Wednesday, a source told the Daily Mail that Kate had hoped to be there with William to accompany their son on his first day of school. Unfortunately, it appears as though Kate was still too unwell.
William admitted Wednesday that he is both anxious and excited about Kate’s pregnancy:
“There’s not much sleep going on at the moment. We need Catherine to get over this first bit and then we can start celebrating. It’s always a bit anxious to start with, but she’s well.”
According to the Express, the little prince will be addressed as George Cambridge at school.
Good luck, George!
