Joy-Anna Forsyth got even more personal on Instagram shortly after revealing that she and her husband had lost their baby girl at 20 weeks gestation.
As Dearly reported, two months after announcing that she and her husband, Austin Forsyth, were expecting their second child, the couple shared their heartache after enduring a miscarriage.
The couple said it was at their 20-week scan, where they had planned on learning the sex of their child that doctors told Joy and Austin that they didn’t “hear a heartbeat or see any movement.”

Today marks one week since we heard these words… . “So this is your baby’s heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don’t hear a heartbeat or see any movement.” . We had gone in for our 20-week ultrasound and gender reveal. It was a baby girl. Although we don’t understand why, God has given us unexplainable peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Yes, it still hurts and we have cried countless tears, but we know that we can trust the Lord. In the words of King David after the loss of his baby, “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me” (2 Sam 12:23). We don’t grieve as those who have no hope because we trust that we will see this little one again. We named her Annabell Elise. Annabell means “God has favored me”, and Elise means “God satisfies”. What a precious thing to know that when our daughter opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the face of Jesus. Please pray for continued healing, not only physically but for our hearts as well. . “All the way my Savior leads me; What have I to ask beside? Can I doubt His tender mercy, Who through life has been my Guide? Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort, Here by faith in Him to dwell! For I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well, For I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.” -Fanny Crosby
The young couple also revealed that they named their first daughter Annabell Elise.
A handful of Joy’s sisters reached out on Instagram to publicly offer their condolences.
The following day, Joy shared more photos of their grief, including a photo of Joy and Austin holding Annabell.

Social media users praised Joy for being so vulnerable and open about their loss:
Some people won’t understand but thank you for sharing this. It is a BABY, your baby, your dream your love. It is vital to honor the life and grieve for what has been lost. As a nurse I have dressed these little babes for moms and dads to hold. So very very hard to do…but so important!!!!! You will go on to have more babies, but never this baby…she is to be treasured and remembered
I know how hard that must have been but it is so powerful a reminder that it is not a fetus but a sweet baby a miracle given to us by God himself. So much love and prayers for y’all!!
Thank you for being so brave to share this pain. So many women go through this and feel so many negative emotions about sharing. God bless you and your sweet family. I pray He continues to hold you close to him and continues to shower His love and blessings on you.
Based on the photos, it seems as though both Joy and Austin have plenty of support to help them get through this emotional time.
The couple welcomed a son into the world in 2018.
