Jessa Seewald came to her little sister’s defense after she was mom-shamed for being on a romantic getaway the same weekend as her 1-year-old son Gideon’s first birthday.
Joy-Anna Forsyth shared a photo from the couple’s trip with her husband Austin Forsyth on February 22.
Joy-Anna captioned the photo:
Getting to spend the weekend with my favorite person! Just the two of us!! (Austin’s parents are watching Gideon for us!).
The 21-year-old was enjoying the getaway with her husband when some fans slammed the “Counting On” star for not being with Gideon on his big day.
The infant’s birthday was on February 23.
One fan wrote:
Thought it’d be more important to spend your child’s birthday with them rather than a retreat away like you wanna deny and forget him … this really ain’t it chief.
Another person said:
While I understand the need for couple time after children, I don’t understand how you could not be home for your son’s birthday. Every birthday is important. You could have chosen any other weekend for a getaway.
But Jessa hit back at critics by leaving a comment of her own.

Haha! So has anyone else tried the "eating an entire fresh pineapple" thing for helping to bring on labor? Apparently it doesn't work for everyone, 'cause I ate the whole thing yesterday… and still no signs of labor! 😊 (Sure was a tasty pineapple tho! 😋😜) Guess #BabySeewald still wants to camp out in there a little longer! Patience, Mama, patience… 😊 #39weeks5days ❤️
The 26-year-old mother of two wrote:
All these people acting like you wouldn’t remember it’s the one-year anniversary of the most physically exhausting and simultaneously most joyous day of your life. Really??
Girl, I know y’all are heading back to celebrate Gideon’s bday, but seriously, even if you did stay away one more day it’s not like he’d know you were celebrating late …
I’ve always joked that 1st bday parties are more for the parents than the kid. If we’re being real, it’s like ‘Yay! We’ve kept a human alive for a year, and we still have our sanity!’
Joy-Anna later thanked her older sister and also added:
FYI … we’ve gotten to spend a couple of days away and will be able to celebrate Gideon’s first birthday with him when we get home this evening.
Joy-Anna later posted a photo from the celebration.
She wrote, “Happy 1st Birthday, Gideon Martyn!! We are so thankful for you and your bright smile that is contagious!!! Mommy and Daddy love you so much!!”
