In April, actor John Stamos, 55, fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a father when he welcomed his first child, Billy, with his model wife, Caitlin McHugh, 32.
As Dearly previously reported, Stamos named his first son after his late father.
However, the busy actor went on “Live! With Kelly and Ryan” this week, where he revealed that he hasn’t gotten to spend much time with his father’s namesake due to his work schedule.
Through tears, Stamos told the hosts, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest:
“I miss him. This is the longest I’ve been away from him. I’ve been waiting my whole life for [fatherhood]. I’m so happy, I’m so happy.”
The actor revealed that he and his wife are in a hurry to have a second child because McHugh said Stamos is “old.” The new dad admitted:
“We’re trying but the kid’s, like, a C-block — can I say that? …
I said, ‘What’s the rush?’ She said, ‘Well, you’re old.’ She said, ‘I’m doing it for you!’ The other day — and I’m not making this story up — she calls [and she’s like], ‘I’m ovulating!’ When they’re ovulating, boom, you gotta get there.”
However, having a six-month-old in the house doesn’t leave them much time to conceive, he said:
“So I come home and of course [Billy’s wide awake]. So I put him in the kitchen — left the door open, we have a little bassinet in there — and we go in, we start trying to do it fast.
We start hearing this noise, he’s squeaking, he screeches… Well, that ruined the mood.”
Stamos even solicited some parenting advice from Ripa, who has three children of her own. The mom told Stamos:
“The first child is the hardest. The first child is the first pancake. Think about the first pancake on the griddle, burnt on one side, raw on the other. I’m just saying each subsequent child gets easier.”
Despite his parenting concerns, it seems Stamos is already doing a great job at raising his little one.
