John Legend loves caring for his adorable little ones but says he sometimes has to “improvise” when it comes to diaper duty due to a lack of changing tables in men’s bathrooms.
Now he’s doing something about it.
The “All of Me’ singer said he first noticed the shortage after welcoming his first child, 3-year-old Luna, with his wife, model Chrissy Teigen. He explained to People:
“It all started from an organic situation which was that Chrissy and I both shared diaper-changing duties with Luna. We really started getting behind the idea of dads having diaper duty and that being a part of co-parenting.”
Legend said he often had to think quick when changing tables weren’t available in the men’s room. He added:
“[For me], sometimes it’s on airplanes. A lot of times, they’re not built for it. You just find a spot and you want the kid to be comfortable because some of these spots are hard and uncomfortable, and they’re freaking out.”
So this week, the father shared a video to his Instagram in partnership with Pampers and Koala Kare that advocates for putting changing tables into men’s bathrooms.
It features different fathers showing all the places they have to change their children because they don’t have access to a table, including car seats and trunks.

Most dads have been there: you’re out with your kids & there's no place to change their diaper. In honor of Father’s Day, @PampersUS is providing 5,000 Koala Kare changing tables in public restrooms. Finally, no more diaper duty on your lap! #LoveTheChange #PampersPartner
In the caption, the dad wrote that Pampers is installing 5,000 changing tables in public restrooms in honor of Father’s Day.
Legend said that he hopes to “make the message heard.” He added:
“Overall, it’s part of a movement that we recognize [the] duties of parenting and running the house should be shared more equally between partners… I think making the changing stations available is gonna make a difference for a lot of people.”
The singer and his wife welcomed their youngest child, Miles Theodore, last year.
There’s no word yet if they plan to continue expanding their family. But hopefully, Legend’s efforts will make it easier for them to co-parent in the future.
