Former “Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines may be busy prepping for their return to television, but the mom still has time laugh along with her children.
The design duo has five children, Drake, 13, Duke, 12, Ella Rose, 12, Emmie Kay, 8, and Crew, 5-months.
And their eldest boys managed to pull a prank on mom this week, she said on Instagram.
On Tuesday, Joanna posted on her Instagram story that she was “playing hooky” for the day and appeared to be decorating her home for the holidays.
Meanwhile, her boys were up to something else.
The HGTV star has a letter board in their home, where she puts up special sayings.
Her children even left her a sweet message on it ahead of the launch of her book, “Homebody: A Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want to Leave.”
But this week, the boys left an entirely different kind of surprise for their mom.
According to Country Living, Joanna used the board to write out “Gather here with thankful hearts.” But her sons decided to change out the final word for something a bit more humorous.
She posted a photo of the results to her Instagram story. Her sons wrote: “Gather here with thankful farts.”
However, the design star had to give her kids props for the prank. She wrote on the photo, “Well played boys.”
Joanna also got a surprise from her daughter, Emmie Kay, recently.
As Dearly previously reported, the 8-year-old scribbled a sweet message on her bathroom sink. Thankfully, it wasn’t permanent.
