“Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their fifth child together, but the mother of four now says she was shocked to find out she was pregnant.
The design due first announced the pregnancy on Instagram and have since revealed they’re going to have a baby boy.
But the joyous news apparently came as a big surprise for the 40-year-old HGTV star, who was last pregnant eight years ago with her youngest daughter, Emmie.
Joanna told People that she took a pregnancy test after going through some familiar symptoms.
“I had been feeling a little emotional and crazy and thought, ‘Wow, this isn’t me.’ Then all of a sudden I realized, ‘Hey, I remember this.’”
And sure enough, the test confirmed her pregnancy. Joanna said:
“When I saw the results of the test, my jaw dropped. Chip was in the driveway about to leave when I called him back and said, ‘We’re pregnant!’ He was so excited. We’re both just so excited.”
Dearly previously reported that the expectant mom said she feels like this is her first pregnancy, since it’s been so long since she had her youngest child.
Joanna wrote in a blog post:
Since it’s been over eight years since I was pregnant with Emmie Kay, I joke with my friends that it feels like it’s my first time being pregnant.
In September, the couple revealed that they were ending their successful run on “Fixer Upper.” Joanna nows says that the pregnancy news “solidified that it was the right decision.”
The happy parents have not revealed when they’re expecting the little one to arrive.
