Jessa Duggar

“Counting On” star Jessa Duggar took to Instagram over the weekend to share a special moment with fans but didn’t exactly get a welcoming response.

The 25-year-old, who is the mom of 2-year-old Spurgeon and 19-month-old Henry, filmed her youngest son getting his very first haircut.

She posted the clip to Instagram but got slammed by some commenters, Hollywood Life reports.

Why? Because she decided to cut the toddler’s hair herself.

Duggar captioned the sweet video:

Henry’s first haircut! ????‍♂️ Ha! So hard to keep a toddler sitting still for 15 min, but with daddy’s help, plenty of snacks, and a cartoon with brother, we managed to pull it off. ?? —swipe left to see the outcome— ????#19monthsold

In the clip, husband Ben Seewald gives little Henry some raisins so that mom can get to work. She wets the toddler’s hair with a comb before carefully chopping off his curls.

Though the haircut went smoothly, some fans claimed that the mom wasn’t cutting the child’s hair safely.

One Instagram commenter wrote:

You cannot see ur lines, I’m sure you try to be very safe, but you would fail hair school because it is soooo not safe to cut like that.

Another said:

Why don’t you take him to get his first haircut done at a kid’s salon?

Thankfully, some fans stepped in to defend the mom. One Instagram user wrote:

It her child ! She can cut his hair if she chooses ! Oh my goodness, peoples comments are so silly sometimes ….All you can do is laugh!!!

Many other fans were just curious if she was saving her little one’s hair because it was his first haircut. Duggar can be seen setting some clippings to the side in the video.

Regardless of the negative comments, her husband seemed pleased with the results.

He said that his youngest boy looked “sharp” after his very first trim.
