Hours before singer Jennifer Lopez took the stage to perform at the 2019 Grammy Awards, she dedicated her performance to her mother.

While on the red carpet, Lopez told reporters that she is dedicating her performance to her mom, Lupe Rodríguez, because it was she who encouraged Lopez’s love of music and performing.

Lopez explained further:

“I’m dedicating this performance tonight to my mom. Lupe, mommy, this is for you because we used to dance around to this music. I grew up with this music and me and my sisters, there were three of us, we were like the backups, we were ‘The Temptations’ and we used to sing with her. And I feel it’s a dream come true.”

By “this music,” Lopez is talk about “Motown” in which she and several other artists paid tribute to the genre, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Lopez, who attend the awards show with her boyfriend of two years, Aaron Rodriguez, performed a handful of songs alongside the legendary Smokey Robinson, host Alicia Keys, and Ne-Yo.

And the 49-year-old singer knocked the performance out of the park. Watch parts of it below:

Lopez said at the end of her performance, which earned her a standing ovation:

“That’s for you, Lupe. I love you, mommy!”

Can I ask why these women feel the need to be almost bare ass naked to sing. Does it make them sing better. Dressing like a whore belongs in the bedroom.
