Jamie Lopez was in a beauty salon when she had an experience that changed the course of her life.

While sitting down to get her hair done, “the chair loudly broke and all eyes were on me.”

The 31-year-old explained to BarcroftTV that she felt humiliated:

“I knew I wasn’t the only one that ever had to suffer something like that, so I saved all my money. I had this dream and I was like, ‘I’m going to make a salon that caters to plus-size women because I know I’m not the only one who goes through this.’”

Lopez was inspired to open “the world’s first plus-size salon,” Babydoll Beauty Couture, in Los Angeles. She has since expanded to Nevada. She admits that she’s “not rich” from the amount of money her salons make, but the confidence she’s giving to ladies is priceless.
