Macaulay Culkin skyrocketed to fame in 1990 after starring in the hit film “Home Alone” as the lovable troublemaker, Kevin McCallister.

But his early stardom seemed to wreak havoc on his later life.

Life & Style Weekly/Facebook

Culkin, who seemingly never got the chance to have a “normal” childhood, battled paparazzi and drug addiction rumors for years after he was arrested for drug possession in 2004, according to Inquisitr.

And in 2012, shocking images of Culkin looking thin and unhealthy spread quickly across social media.

Some media outlets even alleged that he was “pounding $6K of heroin a month,” which he has since denied.

Culkin grew irritated with the media’s constant coverage of his alleged drug use. When asked if people had the right to be concerned, the former child star told the Guardian:

“Not necessarily. Of course, when silly stuff is going on – but no, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever. The thing that bugged me was tabloids wrapping it all in this weird guise of concern. No, you’re trying to shift papers.”

But the 36-year-old has managed to fly under the radar recently.

The actor said he was “essentially retired” last year and has now shifted focus to making music with his band, Pizza Underground.

But fans got a rare look at the star when he stepped out for a date with former Disney star Brenda Song on Monday.

The two allegedly grabbed a bite to eat at popular celebrity hotspot, Craig’s. And fans couldn’t help but notice that Culkin is looking better than he has in years…

Many fans pointed out how much “healthier” the young star looked. Culkin appears to have gained weight and warmed up his complexion during his time out the spotlight.

When compared side-by-side with older photos, the 36-year-old seems to be thriving.

It’s currently unclear if Culkin is in a relationship with Song, who broke off her engagement to musician Trace Cyrus in 2012.

But if they are, it seems to being doing wonders for the former child star.
