On April 8, Jenna Bush Hager took her seat next to co-host Hoda Kotb for the first time during the fourth hour of the “Today Show.”
As Dearly previously reported, Hager was named as former host Kathie Lee Gifford’s replacement after she announced her retirement.
And Hager’s first day on the job was very family focused. Not only did her husband, Henry, and their two daughters, Poppy and Mila, make an appearance, but so did her father, former president of the United State, George W. Bush.

In a pre-recorded video, Bush, his wife, Laura, and Jenna’s mother-in-law all sent encouraging messages to the 37-year-old.
Her father said:
“Hey, Jenna, your old dad here on film to tell you how much I love you and how proud I am of you. I know you’ll do a fabulous job.”
And her mother and mother-in-law added:
“Jenna, your mother and your mother-in-law, are calling to say we’re so proud of you. Congratulations, Jenna, we love you.”
As Hager previously said, her mom was a bit judgemental when she first took the job. As Dearly previously reported, Laura isn’t a fan of her daughter drinking wine so early in the morning:
“My mom judges, just so you know. She kind of does. But [the wine] is just there as a symbolic thing like, ‘come and sit with us and come hang out with us.’”
Following her first day on the job as full-time co-host, Hager took to Instagram to share some of her favorite memories from the hour.
She wrote before sharing photos of her two girls running onto the set and sharing a kiss with her husband:
Let’s go y’all! TODAY was a DREAM! Hoda Kotb, how thrilled I am to sit next to you every day! Follow along with us @hodaandjenna!
She added, “This morning was a dream.”
