Michael Ketterer blew “America’s Got Talent” judges away with his rendition of  the Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody” during the audition round.

But it was his heartwarming story that convinced judge Simon Cowell to his hit “golden buzzer,” sending Ketterer to the live shows, Knox News reports.

The pediatric nurse revealed that he and his wife had adopted five children from foster care, including one with cerebral palsy.

Ketterer said that if he won the show’s million dollar prize, it would go towards his family home:

“If I win that million dollars, I’m going to invest in a home for our family because, you know, my son has cerebral palsy, and … we need a home that’s handicap accessible for him.”

The father of six was a popular contestant on the show and ultimately finished in fifth place.

But now, Ketterer is in hot water after he was arrested for allegedly hitting his wife in a hotel room on Thursday.

The reality contestant was charged with felony domestic abuse, Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to People.

He was taken into custody after getting into a dispute with his wife and striking her, resulting in a red mark.

Ketterer explained to TMZ that police were called to the scene, but his wife didn’t intend to press charges. He was arrested anyway, he said.

The “AGT” contestant claims that the arrest was just a “misunderstanding.” Regardless, the arrest is already having major implications for Ketterer.

He was set to perform with country superstar Garth Brooks at a stadium concert next month, but is no longer welcome to perform.

After the arrest, Brooks said on his Facebook live show:

“Called him this weekend, we talked. We decided it was better that he not appear at Notre Dame and not perform there. That family will figure it out and find it within themselves, and of course the good Lord, and figure it out. Michael Ketterer will not be at Notre Dame.”

Ketterer was released on $50,000 bail.
