Tyrese Gibson is best known for his comedic character in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. As of late, however, his life has been anything but funny.
Back in September, the singer-turned-actor was accused of physically abusing his 10-year-old daughter by her mother and his ex-wife, Norma Gibson. According to the court documents, per New York Daily News, Norma claimed Tyrese pushed their daughter down, held her to the ground with his knees on her back, and beat her.
Tyrese has vehemently denied all allegations of abuse and claimed that her statements were coming from a place of jealousy and resentment.tyrese/Instagram
He wrote in a September 13 Instagram post, in part:
Norma I know you can see this, I’m sorry I got re-married, I’m sorry we didn’t work out…… Sometimes you get married and have kids and things just don’t work out, but I have NEVER wished harm on you……. But I see the attacks just won’t stop so I believe this too will pass and God and the courts will reveal the truth….. I want you to know I still love you and wish you the best in all that you’re looking to do… I just simply wanna co-parent and raise Shayla to be a respectful, decent, smart angel that I know she is…
But on September 14, Norma was granted a restraining order against Tyrese for herself and her daughter.
Now, amid the brutal custody battle, Tyrese seems to be breaking down over the potential permanent loss of his daughter. Per TMZ, the 38-year-old posted a video in which he repeatedly begs:
“Please don’t take my baby.”
Whether he is begging the courts or his ex-wife is unclear.
He also said that a lot of what’s occurring in court isn’t being seen or heard by the public because documents have been sealed and that his “millionaire” and “billionaire” friends aren’t helping him with his extensive legal fees.
On Wednesday, he took to Instagram to comment on an ongoing issue with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, saying he asked Johnson not to take a solo “Fast and Furious” film offer because he’s drowning in legal fees, but Johnson still accepted.tyrese/Instagram
He wrote, in part:
And FYI I was never mad at The Rock – I was just mad that he was ‘pitched’ an idea privately and said yes to it without thinking of what I’m dealing with personally I’m almost broke paying legal fees and is doing what we committed to doing for the #FastFans […] So the rock how does it feel bro?…. going home to your daughter every night…. it’s was 60 days before I seen my baby….. and all I asked you to do “privately” was NOT accept a role that would deeply effect us all……. You are simply NOT the people’s champ….. you are a selfish champ….. I’m almost broke swimming in legal fees CAA tried but couldn’t book me anything cause my ex wife killed my reputation so no one wants to hire me […] Make sure you kiss your 2 daughters when you get home I wish I could but I can’t afford to fight for my baby anymore so they’re likely going to take her away…….
It’s evident Tyrese is going through a very tough time, and regardless of whether he’s been offered help, he feels alone. Meanwhile, according to TMZ, his daughter’s nanny is reported to finish up testifying in court sometime Wednesday afternoon during his restraining order trial.
