Jessie James and Eric Decker might have made a name for themselves before they ever met — in music and football, respectively — but their marriage has garnered them even more fans. Now, the two don’t just have NFL enthusiasts and music junkies following their every move, they have an E! reality show.
Since the first season of their show, “Eric and Jessie: Game On,” in late 2013, millions of viewers have fallen in love with, well, their love.
The couple shares two children together, a 3-year-old daughter, Vivianne, and a 2-year-old son, Eric Jr., and they’ve agreed to let a slew of cameras follow their everyday lives — needless to say, they have their fair share of chaos.
Though the two are known for their constant affection toward one another, like any couple, they also have some not-so-affectionate moments.
In a sneak peek of the Season 3 premiere Wednesday night, the two can be seen discussing a fairly common issue in marriages, albeit calmly, but it became clear they were not on the same page.
While enjoying a night out for a meal together, Eric mentioned how necessary “date nights” are for their marriage:
“[It’s like] alone time — me time. [And] I want you by myself.”
The @kittenish pop up shop LA was a huge success. Thanks so much for coming out!!! Also to all my Cali girls I will see yall tonight at my show in Anaheim house of blues! But he soon made it clear that wasn’t the only time he wanted Jessie to himself, asking:
“Will you not go to work and stay at home with me forever?”
Though she didn’t seem to give his statement much reaction, she dug into the matter, saying:
“Sometimes I get the vibe you don’t want me to have a job.”
She continued, asking:
“Babe, do you not want me to bring home the bacon?”
And as an all-genre Billboard 100 hit song artist, Jessie does, indeed, bring home a good amount of “bacon.”
Then she pointed out when he decided to tie the knot with her, saying he knew by then that she didn’t want to stay home:
“I feel like you know when you married me I like to work.”
Eric said he did, adding he even found it “attractive,” but softly persisted:
“I’m saying I enjoy when you’re home. […] [To] come home to you at home, I enjoy that.”
She then firmly insisted:
“I’m at home a lot.”
Though plenty of mothers and wives stay at home while their partners go off to work, it’s crystal clear Jessie has no desire to join them.
The two definitely have their differences, but they always make sure to keep one another their top priority. Jessie previously told People magazine she tries to consistently do one thing in order to keep a happy marriage:
“Besides being super attracted to each other, I think there’s a sense of flirting with each other and still keeping that spice alive. I think women sometimes stop flirting with their husbands and you can’t. Men want to want feel good — they want to feel like their women love them. When they come home from work, don’t start nagging them with questions. Go up to them and give them a big kiss and ask them how their day was.”
But aside from that, the pair just “genuinely” work — especially as parents — telling People:
“We just like each other and we always have and it continues to strengthen. I think we’re such great parents together — I could not have picked a better partner to have kids with. We parent so well together and besides parenting well together, we both just are still madly in love with each other and we genuinely enjoy each other’s company.”
Fans will be able to watch the loving duo Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on E!, and judging by their conversation this time, the “stay at home” topic will probably come up a lot more.
