It was business as usual at JAS Forwarding Worldwide, a business based out of Sterling, Virginia.
Then, starting in January 2016, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department, co-workers of Mayda Edith Rivera Juarez, 33, began experiencing stomach pains, vomiting, and nausea.Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office
It wasn’t until 10 months later that an employee suspected something may have been wrong with the company coffee pot — his symptoms didn’t appear until after getting a cup of joe from the company break room.
The company’s supervisor then decided to review surveillance footage from the break room, and that’s when he saw something he couldn’t believe: Rivera Juarez pouring Windex in the coffee pot.
According to authorities, Rivera Juarez was intentionally trying to make her boss sick. Police say she also admitted to pouring Ajax dish soap into the coffee pot and directly into her boss’s coffee mug.
In February, Rivera Juarez pleaded guilty to “adulteration of food with intent to injure” and she got her sentence last week: three years and six months behind bars.
Some Facebook users say the sentence wasn’t harsh enough:Screenshot/Facebook Screenshot/Facebook
Others say she was mostly guilty of something else…Screenshot/Facebook
Once Rivera Juarez is released, she’ll be on probation for another three years.
