In December 2016, two teachers at the Adventure Learning Center in Missouri decided to hold a “fight club” that pitted the young children they were watching against each other.
As Dearly previously reported, two teachers in a class of three to four-year-olds put “hulk” gloves on the children and laughed in excitement as they fought.
The impromptu fight club lasted for at least 35 minutes, until a 10-year-old, who was in another class nearby, sent his mom footage of the fight on his iPad.
His 4-year-old brother was crying after the fights and he wanted to alert his mother, Nicole Merseal. She said:
“He doesn`t understand why his friends were fighting him — why he was beaten up by his best friends. And it was on his 4th birthday…”
Merseal immediately contacted the school and the director broke up the fight. Both teachers were immediately dismissed by the school.
But Merseal never felt that was enough. The school remained open and the two women were never charged — until now.
According to Fox 2, the two daycare workers seen in the video have each since been charged.
Tena Dailey, 22, and Mickala Guliford, 28, both now face a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
Following the spread of the video footage, thousands online started a petition to have the women charged. It reads:
The teachers have been fired and the daycare has implemented better training for teachers, but that is not enough. These teachers should have known better.
Court documents obtained by Fox 2 state that the two daycare workers continued to encourage children to fight even though they appeared to be distressed.
At least two parents who had children in the fight are suing the daycare, KMOV reports.
