The birth of baby girl Logan Audrey Quinn was meant to be a celebration.

However, a tragic accident took the life of her 32-year-old father Kevin Quinn as he was driving home from visiting her in the hospital.

Quinn, a Marine veteran, and his wife Kara were due to bring their baby girl home that very day, according to CBS Boston. Instead, he was in a fatal accident that took both his life and the life of the driver.

Twenty-two-year-old Mickey Rivera died instantly after colliding with the new father head-on; Quinn was brought to the hospital where he died shortly after.

Prior to the accident, a police officer “alerted a police dispatcher that he was pursuing a Toyota” that was believed to have been driven by Rivera. The officer stated that the driver was “driving erratically and speeding.” He had tried to stop the car before the fatal crash.

Rivera was out on bail at the time of the crash and had a long criminal record.

Quinn will be remembered as a man who loved both his family and his country, and as someone who looked out for those who were less fortunate than him, according to the family’s GoFundMe.

Quinn’s father John told CBS Boston:

“He loved everybody. He helped everybody. His heart was bigger than him. He’s got Marine friends calling from all over the world.”

His mother Janet added:

“He was a very loving son, awesome husband, and he was so proud to be a dad. That truly will be his legacy: his daughter.”

The Quinn family has nearly reached their GoFundMe goal of $250,000.
