Are R. Kelly’s two live-in girlfriends suffering from Stockholm Syndrome? Well, that’s what some viewers seem to think following the airing of a clip of the two’s interview with Gayle King on Thursday.
The families of Joycelynn Savage, 23, and Azriel Clary, 21, believe their daughters have been brainwashed and are being controlled by Kelly, CBS reports.

There are even questions as to whether the two, among others, are being held captive by the singer. CBS reports the families believe their daughters are a part of the singer’s alleged sex cult.
Further, this is believed to have started when Clary was only 17 and when Savage was 19. They both met Kelly separately during two different concerts. This is somehow all tied to the women furthering their singing careers, which they both claim they never wanted to do.
The families have claimed to have little or no contact with their daughters since.
However, during their interview on “CBS This Morning” the two told a quite different story.
Clary told King:
“Okay, so when I first met Robert, my parents told me to lie about my age. So when I met him, he thought that I was 18. On top of that, when I was 17, my parents were actually making me, trying to get me to take photos with him, take sexual videos with him, all kinds of stuff … Yes, and they said, because if they ever have to blackmail him, what they’re trying to do now, they can use it against him, which is exactly what they’re doing.”
Savage, who can be seen nodding and consoling Clary throughout the interview, pushed a similar narrative.
“Our parents are basically out here just to get money … Well, both our parents, both our parents are basically out here trying to get money and scam, because they didn’t agree on what happened, you know, with music or whatever it could be.”
Clary claimed her parents threatened to leak nude photos of her if Kelly didn’t provide them large sums of money. She even said “to watch out for” her “manipulative” father before she began to cry.
“I’m crying, because you guys don’t know the truth! You guys believe in some f***ing facade that our parents are saying. This is all f***ing lies for money, and if you can’t see that, you’re ignorant and you’re stupid as f***, because you want to be. All because that’s the world we live in. Negativity sells, gossip is what sells, rumors are what sell.”
Savage adamantly agreed. Both girls say they are in love with the self-proclaimed “Pied Piper of R&B.”

Both parents have denied their daughters’ claims and are convinced Kelly is behind it all, CBS reports.
Following the airing of the interview clip, King pointed out that Kelly, 52, was in the room when she was talking with the women. She explained that he would cough to seemingly make his presence known and even questioned if he should stop the interview.
“… so the girls at some point were certainly aware that he was there … I just wanted to say at some point as a mother ‘get your things and let’s go. You are 21, you are 23 and he is 52-years-old’ … When you’re looking at these young women they … parrot a lot of what he was saying … They do not think they’re being manipulated or abused or brainwashed, but again they’re 21 and 23.”
As Dearly reported, Kelly had a very emotional reaction when asked if he was holding women captive in his portion of the interview that aired on Wednesday.
“Stop it. Y’all quit playing! Quit playing! I didn’t do this stuff! This is not me! I’m fighting for my f***ing life! Y’all killing me with this s***! I gave you 30 years of my f***ing career!”
Another clip shows Kelly claiming the two women’s parents “handed their daughters over” to him.
Despite what both Kelly and the girls are saying, many viewers seem to agree with King. Some pointed out that the women often sounded scripted.

Others went on to say that the women are experiencing Stockholm Syndrome.
According to BBC, Stockholm Syndrome is a term “coined to explain the apparently irrational feelings of some captives for their captors.”
R Kelly has brainwashed Azriel and Joycelyn so badly they believe the lies. R Kelly is BROKE. I don’t think anyone is black mailing him for his $. He’s a serial predator that belongs behind bars. sad thing is these girls probably truly do love him. #StockholmSyndrome

Its weird seeing Azriel get bashed for defending R. Kelly. Its common for women who were sexually abused and manipulated to be defensive of their abuser. Before calling either of these girls dumb you have to remember the situation and mindset they've been in the last 4 years

When King asked Clary about her sexual relationship with Kelly and Savage she became upset.
“Sexually, well, first of all, I’m not here to talk about my personal life, and I would never share with no one what I do in or outside of the bedroom. And as a woman, I’m sure you would not either.”
When asked if they had any plans for a career, they both agreed that they don’t know what they want in life. However, they feel that “Rob is gonna support us regardless.”
“He’s our full support, and we’re his full support. And all we need is each other,”
Yahoo! reported that Kelly, a father of three, has since been arrested for failing to pay $161,000 in back child support.
His arrest followed the airing of his own interview with King on Wednesday.
