“Flip or Flop’s” Christina El Moussa recently revealed to People that she battled some dark days following her divorce from husband and co-host Tarek El Moussa.
But these days she’s moving forward by imparting guidance to others through a new project.
After Christina, 34, and Tarek, 36, split December 2016 after a seven year marriage, Christina said, “I felt like I was drowning.” She confessed:
“I was doing whatever I could to stay above water and just get through the day.”
The mother of two children, Taylor, 7, and Bradyn, 2, moved on from the difficult time by developing a healthier lifestyle and turning to her pastor Tim Storey for counsel.
The motivational speaker and life coach inspired Christina to turn her negative experience into a positive new venture.
She told People she made it her mission to give back by opening drug and alcohol rehab centers with Storey and her close friend Cassie Zebisch next year.
“Two years ago I was focused on trying not to sink. But after I started exercising, eating right, surrounding myself with the correct people, I felt this switch.
Everyone’s been there. Everyone’s had a setback, but it’s how you move forward and what you do with your future, that’s what matters.”
She added that she and Storey realized they had an “opportunity” to change people’s lives. She said: “I love to fix up a house, but I also love to help people. I feel like that’s my calling.”
The rehab centers are just one of the few ways the reality star has begun a new life after divorce.
As Dearly previously reported, Christina “bounced back” with her own new HGTV show, “Christina on the Coast,” and a new man, British TV host Ant Anstead.
She told People she’s “super happy” to do her own thing.
“Flip or Flop” currently airs on Thursday nights. “Christina on the Coast” is expected to premiere early 2019.
