After planning and successfully executing their secret wedding, the HGTV star, formerly known as Christina El Moussa, is opening up about her second marriage.
Christina, who has since taken the last name of her new husband, Ant Anstead, remarried on December 22 in a ceremony they kept a secret until the minute before she walked down the aisle.
She explained their decision to keep their wedding hush, hush to People:
“It’s different for us now. We didn’t want all the fuss. Just a quiet wedding without all the drama and paparazzi.”
They also kept their three-month-long engagement a secret as well.
Ant told People that he and Christina got engaged in September 2018, but didn’t tell anyone about it as they planned their wedding:
“We had an engagement, we just didn’t tell anyone.”
However, while Christina was in on most of the secrets, as People reports, the proposal initially came as a surprise to the mom of two, as well.
A surprise that almost didn’t stay that way, according to Ant:
“I called on [Christina’s] best friend, Cassie, and I said, ‘Look, we need to go ring shopping.’ We walked into a jeweler and I started looking at rings. And then I heard a customer go, ‘Oh my god it’s Ant from Wheelers and Dealers.’ And I just turned and walked out the shop. And Cassie is left in there going, ‘Ant? Ant?’”
The father of two then went into detail about how he asked Christina to marry him:
“I did the proposal on Newport Beach on the sand with some champagne at sunset.”
Before Christina added:
“He was like, ‘Let’s just go for a bike ride’ and we were going to grab dinner. We were watching the sunset, and then all of a sudden he just got on his knee and proposed. So yes, I was surprised.”
And although the proposal was initially a surprise, Christina always knew she was going to marry Ant one day. The home-designer told her dad two weeks after meeting her now husband that she was to marry him.
The couple also plans to honeymoon in Bora Bora:
“I’m incredibly grateful to have met her. She saved me,” said Ant before Christina clarified, “We saved each other.”
And now that the pair is married, they are looking forward to creating even more memories with their blended family in the future.
Christina and Ant both have two children from their previous relationships and all four of them get along swimmingly, according to their parents.
The children were also included in both the ceremony and the reception. As Christina explained, they each had their own dance and the pastor who married them even blessed their new family of six.
The pair called 2018 their best year yet, adding that they are both “incredibly lucky.”
