Mother of two Chrissy Teigen isn’t shy about defending herself against mom-shamers.
The 32-year-old model, who is married to singer John Legend, often posts photos of their adorable kids to social media.
Many fans love to see her posts of 2-year-old Luna and 6-month-old Miles, but others use her openness about parenting as an opportunity to mom-shame.
As Dearly previously reported, Teigen had to defend herself last month after her husband posted a photo of her bottle-feeding their son.
The model was criticized for not breastfeeding the baby boy.
Now, Teigen is admitting that all of the mom-shaming actually does get to her. And sometimes, it makes her double-check what she’s posting.
In an interview with TODAY Parents, the 32-year-old said:
“It definitely gets to me. Certain days it gets to me more than other days. And I realized if I read Twitter too early when I wake up, I tend to be like a little more moody with it and things get to me more.”
Teigen said that after seeing “every possible type of comment,” she’s more careful about what she posts on social media. The mom admitted:
“It’s weird because you have to think of everything. If I want to share a picture or take a video of, of Luna singing in her car seat, I have to make sure every little piece of the car seat is in the right place or else everyone will get mad at me for having it the wrong way. And as moms, we’re very defensive and want to protect our babies. So, people can say anything about me, but if it gets into the kids, I become mama bear.”
The model said she sometimes catches herself giving out unsolicited parenting tips now that she’s a mom. Teigen thinks that’s because parents want to “help each other out.”
But at the end of the day, she said she’s going to do what she knows what’s best for her kids, regardless of what others suggest. Teigen said:
“You just have to have your view and stick with it and stay true to what you believe is best for your kids. Stop caring what everybody else has to say because everybody has an opinion.”
