Chris Pratt and Anna Faris are one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. The two down-to-earth actors have been together since they met on the set of “Take Me Home Tonight” in 2007.
Unfortunately, on Sunday night, the pair announced their split after eight years of marriage. They took to the “Jurassic Park” actor’s Facebook page to let friends and fans know of their separation, saying that despite their best efforts, they feel it’s best to walk away:
Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. …
Their post read, in part:
Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed.
And the parents of one insisted that no matter what, they are still loving co-parents:
Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.
The two concluded by highlighting one important factor in their divorce — respect:
We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.
And, sadly, signed off in what might be their last joint statement:
Chris Pratt and Anna Faris.
As previously noted, they share a son, Jack, who will be 5 years old in August, and the two say they are committed to staying the best parents they can be.
Just last year, after filming a slew of box-office hits, Chris announced he’d be taking a six-month hiatus from acting to focus on what means most to him in life: family. He told Parade Magazine at the time:
“I’m taking Jack to Jack’s Beach — which is what we named the little stretch of beach on an island up on the San Juan Islands where we got a place. We’re going to go back to the fort we built about a month and a half ago when we went for a short visit and see if that’s still there. If not, we’re going to build it again.”
But he wanted to focus on his marriage as well. He and Anna have been very public about their unwavering love for one another. In a 2015 Reddit AMA, Chris talked about how much Anna changed his life, saying:
Anna and I are meant to be together. Our relationship has made me believe in divine intervention and destiny, just as much as my crazy career and the way I fell into this life […] Anna is a great wife. Very patient and understanding. Very supportive. So kind and genuine always. And she gave me a wonderful son and family of in-laws that I truly love.
And Anna hasn’t been shy when it came to boasting about her spouse, either. In 2016, she told the Huffington Post:
“When I was falling in love with him, I loved how kind he was to people. I loved how smart he is, but he’s not pretentious at all. He doesn’t wear that as a badge — he kind of lets people slowly discover it. He’s humble, and he’s a great leader, and he’s an incredible father and a great husband. And I feel like, after years of dating people that weren’t the best for me, I found somebody who’s love I could really accept.”
Clearly, even without their wedding vows, Chris and Anna have always loved each other and seemingly will always love each other on some level. And as heartbroken as friends, family, and fans will be over the hysterical pair’s split, Chris and Anna are laser-focused on one thing: their son.
