Just a week after Kathie Lee Gifford announced that she had lost her mother, Joan Epstein, another “Today” show host has revealed similar heartbreaking news.
Carson Daly, the veteran television host and recent addition to the “Today” team, released a statement on Monday that confirmed his mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, had passed away.Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/Getty Images
The 73-year-old, who was a proud grandma, died in her sleep on Sunday, according to the statement. Daly wrote:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, wife, grandmother, Pattie Daly Caruso. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17th, 2017.
Despite the devastating loss, Daly said she would be remembered in the hearts of those she touched. He said:

Kiki, as she was known to her grandchildren and many others, touched so many lives with her kindness, her giant spirit and her love of life. She will be terribly missed by her family and the world, but her spark will shine for eternity.
On Monday, Carson’s wife, Siri, posted a touching tribute to her “other mother” on Instagram. She wrote:
Heartbroken. My O’Mo, as I called her (“other mother”), was a vibrant force in my life. I feel her presence today and will forever. Carson and I appreciate your love and support.
Heartbroken. My O’Mo, as I called her (“other mother”), was a vibrant force in my life. I feel her presence today and will forever. Carson and I appreciate your love and support. (*I must note, a post went up on my blog today that was previously scheduled, which is why there is no mention of our loss.)
Carson’s “Today” show family took the time to express their deepest sympathies to their grieving colleague on Monday.
Co-anchor Matt Lauer said that he was praying for the family, and Savannah Guthrie called Carson a “devoted and loving son,” according to Entertainment Tonight.
It’s currently unclear what caused the 73-year-old’s passing, but the grandmother of three had previously battled breast cancer.
