On July 8, Boyce’s father, Victor, took to Twitter to thank fans for their kindness as he mourns the death of his son.

Victor tweeted:

I’m overwhelmed with the love and support our family has received. It really does help to ease the pain of this nightmare I can’t wake up from. I can’t thank you guys enough.

Victor’s daughter and Cameron’s sister Maya Boyce has not yet posted anything in regards to the news.

As Dearly reported, before Victor’s tweet, a spokesperson for the actor’s family also released a statement. The statement read:

“He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

As TMZ later reported, the “ongoing medical condition” Cameron suffered from was epilepsy. The reported seizure that claimed the actor’s life may have been triggered by the disorder.

According to the Epilepsy Foundation, epilepsy “is the fourth most common neurological disorder and affects people of all ages. It’s characterized by unpredictable seizures and can cause other health problems.”
