The parents of a 13-year-old girl had to face their daughter’s tragic suicide, but their pain and suffering didn’t stop there.
Charlene and Freddie Avila were devastated when their daughter, Rosalie, attempted to take her life last Tuesday after being bullied, according to NBC News.
Sadly, she didn’t survive after she hung herself. She was declared brain-dead last Friday and kept on life-support until Monday so her organs could be donated.
Rosalie left behind two notes for her parents before she took her own life, apologizing to both of them. She wrote “Sorry, Mom and Dad. I love you,” and “Sorry, Mom, you’re gonna find me like this” on the second one.
CBSLA reports the teen wrote in a journal about the hurtful words that bullies said to her. Her father said his daughter wrote:
They told me I was ugly today. They were making fun of me today about my teeth.
The parents turned over Rosalie’s heartbreaking journal describing the torture she was dealing with to the police, hoping this will help prevent another bullied child from taking their life.
Her mother is still shocked someone could put her daughter through that much pain, driving her child to kill herself, she told CBSLA:
“As a mom, I’m still asking myself, like, ‘What went wrong?’ I don’t know.”
The mother and father, still in shock that their daughter is gone, have now become victims of bullying themselves.
Charlene and Freddie received a social media message with sick photos of their daughter, showing a bed, a shovel, and an empty grave.
The disturbing ‘joke’ message had a picture of Rosalie next to an empty bed saying:
Hey mom Next time don’t tuck me in this.
The picture underneath had her pointing at an empty grave with the words:
Tuck me in THIS.
The twisted message hit the mother hard, opening her eyes to how wicked people can be. According to CBSLA, Charlene said to whoever was behind the message, “You’re a very heartless person, and you have no compassion.”
Now, the mother and father are mourning the sudden loss of their daughter while they watch the bullying she lived through still happening around them, hoping their daughter’s death will help save another child from the same fate one day.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the parents bury “Daddy’s girl and mommy’s princess.”
