A California 7-year-old boy died on July 7, just over a week after his mother allegedly tried to drown him in an irrigation ditch alongside his older brother.
On June 29, mom Sherri Telnas allegedly took her two sons out to the road and submerged them in water. Her 12-year-old son, Jackson, died, Dearly reported.
Her younger son, Jacob Ray, was transported to a children’s hospital with critical injuries.
He died on July 7, while surrounded by loved ones. His grandmother, Diana Keeland, told ABC 6:
“They had an hour with Jacob Ray to love up on him, Jacob got a chance to spend time with him and tell him how much he loves him.”
The boys’ father, Jacob Telnas, was not in the state when the incident occurred. He’s been devastated by the loss, Keeland said:
“My son lost his two children, I lost my two grandsons who were both so very precious to me… I’m worried about my son and how he’s going to deal with the loss of his two children and at the hand of their mother that makes it ten times worse.”
The mother is now facing two homicide charges for the boys’ deaths. Police documents reveal that the 45-year-old mom said she tried to drown them because “they were possessed by demons.”
According to reports, in 2008, Telnas first tried to drown her eldest son, Jackson, when he was 10 months old. She was charged with two counts of criminal endangerment at the time.
The mother will head to court in August.
