In February, Bristol Palin split from her husband of a year and a half, Dakota Meyer. And by August, the mother of two confirmed she was “freshly divorced.”

Now, in a trailer for Palin’s new starring role on MTV’s “Teen Mom OG,” she’s giving insight into what may have caused their marriage to crumble.

In the clip, which was filmed before the divorce, Palin admits that Meyer’s service in Afghanistan as a United States Marine left him with mental health struggles, Entertainment Tonight reports.

And it impacted their relationship, she said:

“My husband, Dakota, has been struggling with PTSD and it’s been hard on our marriage. We don’t know how to co-exist together. I don’t want to raise my kids to think this is what a marriage looks like, you know.”

Once their marriage was in decline, they couldn’t figure out how to fix it, Palin said:

“We don’t know how to pull this together.”

Last month, Meyer opened up about the split on Instagram and said he was “happily divorced,” People reports.

She wasn’t happy with me so it’s for the best… Take it one day at a time and focus on you. Everything is just a moment in time. You can try everything and give the person all you have, and if they don’t choose to see good in you, it’s out of your control. Know when enough is enough.

Palin and Meyer have one child together, 2-year-old Sailor Grace, and worked together to raise the mom’s child from a previous relationship, 9-year-old Tripp.

The mother of two’s addition to the “Teen Mom OG” cast came as a shock to her new co-stars, Dearly previously reported.

Fan favorite Kailyn Lowry wrote on Twitter that she was “surprised” by the decision.

Palin will make her debut on “Teen Mom OG” on October 1.
