“Teen Mom 2” star Briana DeJesus has been getting slammed by fans and co-stars alike for her decision to openly date another mom’s ex, Javi Marroquin.

According to earlier reports, Briana’s MTV co-stars won’t even speak to her for dating the 25-year-old dad, who was previously married to Kailyn Lowry.

But amid all the dating controversy, it turns out the “Teen Mom 2” star has been dealing with a much more serious issue at home — her mom’s health.

Roxanne DeJesus, who often makes appearances alongside her daughter on the reality series, confirmed this week that she’s been diagnosed with lupus, People reported.

The mom revealed on Twitter that she’s undergone a series of extensive blood tests to officially get diagnosed with the chronic autoimmune disease.

Roxanne posted a photo showing a number of vials, presumably of her blood, that were used for the tests. She wrote:

The reality stars mom also told a fan that it’s been a long road since she started to feel the effects of her lupus. She told a Twitter user:

It’s unbelievable how much you have to suffer before they diagnose you. It almost feels like they take advantage of the money one brings into the business. Despite cures they make more money on illnesses. Feel better.

On Thursday, her daughter Briana retweeted the photo to her 120,000 followers on the social media site.

According to the National Resource Center for Lupus, the disease — which is currently incurable — causes pain and inflammation, and can sometimes be life-threatening.

But regardless of the severity, it’s a challenge for any sufferer.

That means it’s likely been a difficult challenge for the family on top of what Briana’s been facing since she was launched into the reality spotlight.
