Russian supermodel Irina Shayk may live a glamorous lifestyle, but the 32-year-old said she faces the struggles of being a working mom “every day.”
Shayk has been dating actor Bradley Cooper, who recently directed and acted in the hit movie “A Star Is Born,” since 2015.
In 2017, the couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Lea De Seine.
On Thursday, Shayk opened up to People about the tough side of motherhood at the Ellen Tracy’s brand showroom in New York. She said:
“When I’m not on set, I want to be a regular person because I am a regular person. I want to be myself. I don’t want to be judged about not looking together.”
The supermodel said that often struggles with “mom guilt,” and the pressure to get everything right regarding her first-born.
“I’m the mom who’s always checking in. I’m really hard on myself… I’m not good, but I’m working on it. You just have to let it go and not be hard on yourself.”
Thankfully, the mom said she knows to let up on herself over the guilt because “everyone has it.”
The supermodel admitted that her life on social media looks “perfect,” but that’s just because she never shows fans her personal life.
Shayk said she often gets negative comments when they finally meet her in person because she looks more casual. But for now, the mom said she’s okay with that:
“I’m just living my life. I don’t wanna be anyone else but who I am.”
In September, Cooper also opened up about raising their daughter, Lea, and how it changed his mindset. He said:
“So I guess having a child, and having a family of my own — which is a miracle and something I’ve always dreamt of — has opened me up even more, I guess, to the day, and to be present.”
There’s no word yet if the parents plan to have another child together. For now, it seems they have their hands full raising their adorable daughter.
