A family is searching for answers after their 6-month-old left day care vomiting and with a hand-shaped bruise on his face. It turns out he may have been a victim of abuse.

Brett and Sarah Braun dropped their two children off at a Shawnee, Kansas daycare center and reportedly discovered their son was ill when they picked them up later that day, reports FOX4KC.

On June 20, the parents of the infant said their son and daughter were happy and healthy when they left them in the care of the at-home daycare provider.

However, during the pick-up, the little boy vomited all over his dad, and he had a red mark on his face that looked like a hand print. Sarah said:

“The day care lady was holding Glen, and my son had puke all over himself and she said he has been throwing up. He threw up all over his Pack ‘n Play, all over another kid.”

When his parents confronted the center about the red mark, they allegedly told them another kid hurt him. Sarah said:

“She made excuses, saying maybe she was out of the room and another kid did this.”

However, as Glen’s illness progressed, they took him to see his pediatrician the following morning. He was diagnosed with a hematoma, reports KCTV.

The 6-month-old was showing symptoms of a brain bleed, and the family said doctors were shocked. Brett said:

“The head C.T. showed that he had a brain bleed. From there they told us there were signs of abuse. They got the police involved and child services.”

The father continued:

“I was absolutely devastated. I mean he is 6 months old. I don`t know how anyone could ever hit him or do anything to him.”

He added:

“I don’t really know what to say. We did all the proper steps. We went on the state website. We interviewed her. We did everything we should. I don’t know the right answer.”

According to FOX4, while no one has been arrested and charged in the incident, the Shawnee day care has been shut down during the ongoing investigation. Police are investigating the incident as a battery and said the child was hit with hands or feet.

The outlet has not named the day care owner or her daycare at this time.

But Brett spent some time on Monday holding up a sign outside the home where he believes Glen was abused, to prevent something like this from happening to another child.

The parents said their son is too young to talk about the incident. They’re relying on the medical report and the police investigation to determine what happened to their son.
