After the sudden passing of her 2-month-old daughter to sudden infant death syndrome, Laquinta McKinney found a way to keep her memory alive.

The grieving mother placed the ashes of her beloved daughter in a teddy bear:

“It was just a way for me to cope with the loss.”

However, WSVN reports the bear was stolen from the driveway of her apartment complex while she was in the process of moving.

McKinney told WSVN she left the bear, along with other items, at her apartment while she went to get a U-Haul truck:

“When I got back yesterday, I came back, and I saw the bags ripped apart. Stuff was all over the yard, and my first instinct was not even to check what was gone, I just started looking for her.”

She said she immediately felt the pain of losing her baby all over again:

“Losing her again, the feeling comes back to that morning of Sept. 16, waking up and she was gone.”

The devastated mother is asking the public to please report any information they may have on the whereabouts of the teddy bear:

“That bear is more than a bear, she’s my daughter. If you find it, I wouldn’t be upset. Just, please, if you could return it to the Hollywood Police Department.”

Call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS if you have any information about the missing item. You may you be eligible for a $3,000 reward, and you can remain anonymous.
