In 2016, Lauren Bushnell, 27, and Ben Higgins, 29, got engaged after they found love together on ABC’s hit reality dating show, “The Bachelor.”

But not everything was quite as perfect as it seemed.

When the show ended, the happy couple started to get into arguments and eventually sought counseling at their church. Lauren told People:

“We’ve gotten in arguments like any other couple, but about some things that other couples wouldn’t have to fight about, like the fact that we met when he was dating other women.

“You can say that’s what I signed up for, but it’s still real life and it’s still hard.”

It wasn’t enough to keep the reality show couple together. Ben and Lauren announced their split back in May, but claimed they would still “remain friends.”

And it didn’t take long for Lauren to move on. Just two months after she ended her engagement to the former “Bachelor” star, the blonde beauty was spotted with a new man by her side.

According to earlier reports, Lauren is allegedly dating her longtime friend Devin Antin. Her new boyfriend isn’t a television star and keeps private on social media, but fans claim this is a photo of the cute couple:

And now, Ben is opening up about his heartbreak on an upcoming episode of his new iHeartRadio show, “Almost Famous.”

On the show, which was shared exclusively with People, the former “Bachelor” star admitted that he’s had a difficult time getting romantic since his split with Lauren. Ben said:

“If I were to kiss somebody right now in my life, it would hold a lot of weight. It would be really hard for me.

Right now, for me to kiss anybody … my chest kind of gets tight. I know that’s really difficult for me.”

But Ben said he has now shifted his focus to improving himself instead of worrying about what somebody else thinks of him. He told his “Almost Famous” audience:

“I desire commitment and I desire to emotionally attach myself to somebody … and say ‘Hey, I’ve got your back and I’m here for you,’” [But] I am forcing myself to get to know myself better, to find myself a little bit, to figure out who I am now.

Once I do that–I don’t know when that is–hopefully I’ll have somebody then in my life who will tell me they love me and I’ll know it.”

The “Bachelor” alum said he found solace at his church after his split with Lauren.

He said he spent time listening to sermons from his pastor, who often spoke about “heartbreak and breakups and how you move forward and move on.”

It’s unclear if Ben is back on the dating scene yet. But for now, it seems like he’s just taking some time to do a little soul-searching.
