Amy Duggar revealed in a series of tweets that she recently discussed changes to her family with her husband, Dillon King — and some people let her know they aren’t having it.

As People reports, Duggar shared on Twitter her wish to adopt all 13 children whom California parents David and Louise Turpin allegedly tortured and held captive in what’s been dubbed the “House of Horrors”:

She wrote:

I just texted Dillon and told him I wanted to adopt all 13 Turpin children. I would love to show them true love and have a beautiful life and provide a secure and stable home for them. #ifonly #houseofhorrors
God can restore what the devil has stolen?

Dearly previously reported that the parents starved, beat, and shackled their children to furniture for years inside the filth-infested home. The group of siblings was rescued after their 17-year-old sister bravely escaped the home and contacted authorities.

While some gushed over Jim Bob and Michelle Duggars’ niece for making the emotional gesture, others ripped her suggestion as nothing more than a publicity stunt:

Duggar responded to the criticism:

She wrote:

This isn’t a publicity stunt for all those haters out there. My heart is just breaking for them. I am sincere with my words and actions.

Dearly previously reported that, ironically, a Turpin family member hinted that the Louise, the kids’ mother, had hopes of her large family one day getting their own reality show.

Louise’s brother, Billy Lambert, told the Mirror the mom wanted the children — aged 2 to 29 years — to help the family become the next “Kate Plus 8”:

“She used to say how they would be perfect for TV and would often mention they would be bigger than the reality show ‘Kate Plus 8.’ She thought the world would be fascinated by their lives…

It is the reason they moved to California to be nearer to Hollywood.”

On a guest spot on “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” last February, Duggar talked about her own abusive childhood, according to Us Weekly. The “19 Kids and Counting” star revealed her father, Terry Jordan, physically abused her as a child. She said:

“When I was 6, my dad was watching me, and he picked me up by my throat. My dad was like, ‘Amy, did you brush your teeth?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, Daddy!’ And he was like, ‘No, you didn’t,’ and he picked me up by my throat, all the way up to the ceiling, and I was scared s–tless.”

Duggar explained, “I’ve seen things thrown in the air. I’ve been called every name in the book. He tried to run me over with a car. It scared me out of my mind.”

David and Louise are behind bars and face 12 counts of torture, seven counts of abuse on a dependent adult, 12 counts of false imprisonment, and six counts of child abuse.

The dad received an additional charge of committing a lewd act on a child by force; the alleged victim is one of Turpin’s daughters.

The couple is both being held on bail of $12 million each. Their next court date is set for February 23.
