Amanda Bynes was once a member of Hollywood’s A-list. The 31-year-old actress scored her own television series, “The Amanda Show,” when she was just 13 years old and went on to become one of Tinseltown’s biggest stars.

Bynes was a teen icon in the early 2000s, starring in hit movies like “What a Girl Wants” and “Hairspray.” But eventually, her star power started to fizzle out.

In June 2010, at age 24, Bynes announced that she was retiring from acting because it wasn’t “as much fun as it may seem,” according to The Daily Mail.

She managed to avoid the spotlight for a few years, but then fans started to notice her erratic behavior.

In 2013, the former actress was arrested on drug possession charges and started posting bizarre ramblings and photos to her social media accounts.

Her appearance also made a dramatic change. The actress was often spotted looking disheveled, and wore a number of different wigs.

In 2014, the star’s strange behavior came to a head.

According to People, Bynes was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold for 72 hours after she lit a small fire in a neighbor’s driveway.

The mental health lockdown, called a 5150 hold, is used if police believe a person is a risk to themselves or others.

The star has stayed relatively silent on social media since the incident and has given no interviews for years.

But now, she’s speaking out to share her side of the story.

In an interview with Hollyscoop’s Diana Madison, Bynes admitted that she was “on drugs” during her very public breakdown, but said she’s since shifted her focus to bigger and better things.

Bynes said that she is now working on obtaining a fashion design degree at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles.

She also announced some big news: she wants to start acting again for the first time in years. Bynes said:

“I do miss acting. I actually have something surprising to tell you: I’m going to start acting again.”

The star’s last role was in the hit 2010 movie, “Easy A,” which starred the now Academy Award-winning actress, Emma Stone. But Bynes said that she’s looking to transition back into television:

“I want to do TV. Maybe a few guest spots on some shows that I’m a fan of, and maybe another TV show where I’m the star of it,”

The news immediately ignited a social media firestorm. Many fans took to Twitter to react to the surprise interview:

Now that the star is three years sober, she also took the time to clarify some of her more controversial statements, including the time she asked a popular rapper, Drake, to “murder her p****.”

Bynes explained:

“I was serious, but I was also on drugs. That was my way of saying, like, ‘Let’s do it, man,’ but I was on drugs and trying to be hilarious.”

Now it seems that the star’s hard-partying ways are far behind her.

She said from now on she’s focusing on creating a fashion line and living a healthy life. There’s been no word on when Bynes plans to make her official return to acting.
