Nine days after Alex Trebek revealed that he is currently battling stage IV pancreatic cancer, he took to YouTube one more time to say “thank you” to his fans.

On March 6, the “Jeopardy!” host took to the show’s YouTube page to let his beloved fan-base know about his diagnosis and that he is prepared to fight despite the odds being stacked against him.

He said, in part:

“Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working. And with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers, also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”

Since his announcement, Trebek, 78, has received countless well-wishes through various social media platforms, as well as letters that have been sent to him.

Some of those messages included:

People have even reshared some of Trebek’s most “savage” moments during his 35 years as host:

And just before the start of the episode of “Jeopardy!” that aired on March 14, Trebek released another prerecorded video thanking the “hundreds of thousands of people” who sent him prayers and good thoughts.

Watch his full message below:

He said in the video:

“Hi everyone, I just want to take a few moments to say thanks to the – believe it or not – hundreds of thousands of people who have sent in tweets, texts, emails, cards and letters wishing me well following my recent health announcement. I’ve heard from former contestants – even Watson, the IBM computer, sent me a get-well card.

Now obviously, I won’t be able to respond to all of you individually, but I do want you to know that I do read everything I receive. And I am thankful for the kind words, the prayers and the advice you have offered, and I’m extremely touched by the warmth you have expressed in your comments to me.

He concluded, “I’m a lucky guy.”

My three older brothers and I were diagnosed with four different kinds of cancer within four years…The folllowing words became my mantra: “GOD DID NOT PLAN FOR THIS AFFLICTION TO COME UPON ME, BUT, IN HIS WISDOM HE HAS ALLOWED IT; THEREFORE, I WILL DO MY BEST TO LEARN FROM IT WHATEVER GOD WISHES TO TEACH ME.” (Ancora Imparo..translation.. I am still learning!)

God be with you Alex and your family. He will lay his loving hands on you and heal your body. I pray that you find peace and comfort in knowing that thousands maybe millions are offering up prayers for you everyday. I had cancer and I am here because God heard the prayers of alot of people and he healed me and watched over me through it all. Take care. Linda .

Alex, you are a far more knowledgable person than I am, but this I know, do not fight with cancer. Cancer does not “have “you, and you do not “have “it. Cancer is merely a squatter in your body. Sidestep that squatter and go directly to the landlord, God. Trust him to handle it. Just live, knowing that if you belong to God, he will take care of you. Live in that Faith and focus on living, not on cancer. Worked for me. Many prayers and love being sent to you Alex, God bless you.

Gina, don’t play with words, “Cancer does not “have “you….” The true is much better as you ended, “Just live, knowing that if you belong to God, he will take care of you. Live in that Faith.” We who have cancer and face death are not impressed with the rest. Sorry but I needed to get it out.

Praying that God will guide his oncologists to the best treatment and praying for complete healing. We never miss Jeopardy. I admire Mr. Trebek because he has always stayed out of Hollywood’s drama and has remained dedicated to great causes.

According to the definition of Stage IV cancer, that would be the cancer stage of my metastatic disease. However, that does not always mean imminent death. I first had a non-smoker lung with cancer removed over 4 years ago and have been taking cancer drugs by mouth for over 2 years and shots for the plus 4 duration. After getting worse for about a year, I have seen reduction in the severity for over a year. Stabilized now my doctor is happy and confident I am close to the free stage whatever that may mean. Still at the 50% level but the outlook is bright. Please, Alex, trust God. He loves us all and if we pass we have a greater home to abide in.

My thoughts exactly. Heaven doesn’t even compare to anything we can imagine. It’s eternal too.

Hopefully you too will be healed completely and I agree with you about having a greater home to abide in. Our lives here on earth are short, but it’s forever in Heaven.
