Just weeks after former “Dance Moms” star Abby Lee Miller was released from her eight-month stint in prison for bankruptcy fraud, the 51-year-old was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, specifically Burkitt lymphoma.

Soon after her hospitalization, Miller underwent life-saving surgery before undergoing months of chemotherapy and radiation.

Unfortunately, as a result of the many procedures and treatments, Miller has lost the ability to walk.

In July, the dance teacher shared a picture on Instagram of the rehabilitation process. Miller attempted to keep things lighthearted by joking that she felt like Peter Pan in the harness she was using:

She wrote:

“Look at me, way up high.” I never thought I’d be cast in the role of Peter Pan, but I’m harnessed up and ready to fly!

However, as a source told People, it’s unclear if Miller will ever walk on her own again.

According to the source, Miller is trying to remain as optimistic as possible despite the grim prognosis:

“Abby has been trying to stay positive throughout this journey, but it’s been tough. She’s getting a little stronger every day, but we don’t know if she’ll ever walk again.”

The 51-year-old, who will be 52 on September 22, has since left rehabilitation in order to undergo more rounds of chemotherapy.

Another source told People:

“Abby’s tough, and she continues to keep her spirits up as she focuses on her health.”

And according to E! News, Miller has vowed to do whatever is necessary to ensure she will one day walk again.

An insider revealed:

“Her prognosis is bleak, but she is vowing to beat this and not only walk, but dance again.

She has been open about her diagnosis with her close friends who are in awe of Abby Lee’s fighting spirit. Her inner circle is rallying around her with support and regular visits to the Dance Moms star.”

For now, Miller continues to share her journey with her fans via social media.
