A 93-year-old woman from Maine got arrested on her birthday. Well, sort of.

Anne DuMont knew her mother was a fan of the television series “Cops,” so she arranged an appropriately themed gift for her mom — a staged and gentle “arrest” by an officer from the Augusta Maine Police Department.

The loving daughter took to Facebook to joke:

On July 9, 2018 Mom got arrested. Yep, arrested. I told you guys that she was the bad one, but you didnt believe me!! She influenced all of us, but we held strong. Now that she is out of jail, I can post this……. kidding, she didnt go to jail….

She went on to explain her mother’s respect for the police.

DuMont explained:

[Mom] goes on about how the police have the worse job and what they have to deal with ….. and she wondered what it was like to be arrested and sit in the back seat…..

DuMont joked that the birthday gift was her mom’s “own fault.” However, the birthday girl couldn’t have been happier with her birthday surprise. The 93-year-old got to see and sit in the police vehicle.

She even got to push “the siren button until it whaled (sic).”

The Augusta Maine Police Department shared DuMont’s post, adding that they were “very proud” to have been invited.

The birthday girl is still talking about her “arrest” weeks after the fact, and thanked her daughter, saying:

“[Y]ou made my life.”
