A protective dad was hailed a hero after he tackled another man at Target.
As ABC7 reports, surveillance footage from a Cypress, California, location captured a male shopper following women around the store and covertly crouching down to take up-skirt photos.
Ismael Duarte was shopping with his wife, Angelica, and 15-year-old daughter Tuesday when he became aware of the man's suspicious activity.
Duarte told KTLA that he went into “protect mode” when he saw Jorge A. Ibarra, 29, turn on his camera and follow his daughter. He blocked his daughter from the man, but that wasn't the end of it.
As Ibarra bent down behind another girl at the checkout lane, the furious father kicked the man's phone and tackled the stranger.
Ibarra managed to get away, but not before Duarte took a photo of his silver sedan and reported it to police. Duarte told KTTV:
“I’m pissed off that I didn’t do more than I did but I wish I would have, because I’m so angry.
If you’re watching, just know you messed with the wrong family, that’s all I got to say.”
As FOX 11 reports, Duarte feels Target's security team should have done more to stop Ibarra. He said:
“All they did was stand behind, and that's very disappointing.”
A spokeswoman for Target said:
The safety and security of our guests is very important. We have no tolerance for this behavior in our stores... We will help law enforcement in any way.
Ibarra faces misdemeanor charges. If convicted he would serve no more than one year in jail.
