Becoming a father has always been a dream for “Full House” actor John Stamos, as Dearly previously reported.

Forever known as America's favorite uncle thanks to his role as “Uncle Jesse” on the hit 90's sitcom, Stamos finally started seeing his dream come to life when he met his now wife Caitlin McHugh in 2016.

By 2017, the 54-year-old actor and the 31-year-old model were engaged and expecting their first child together.

During the early morning hours of April 16, Stamos announced that McHugh had given birth.

In an incredibly sweet Instagram post, Stamos welcomed his son, Billy Stamos. The new father said that his son is named after his beloved father:

He wrote:

From now on, the best part of me will always be my wife and my son. Welcome Billy Stamos (named after my father) #NotJustanUncleAnymore #Overjoyed

In an exclusive interview with People, Stamos said that it “kills” him that his parents are no longer here to meet their grandchild. He said that he hopes he's half the man his father was:

“It kills me that my parents aren’t here to be part of this, but I know it probably wouldn’t be happening if they weren’t up there.

You know how you put your father on a pedestal, and he’s a superhero, and then as you grow older, you go, ‘Ah, he’s just a man’? I never got to that point. Till the day he died, he was bigger than life to me.”

During the same interview, McHugh said the look on Stamos' face when she revealed she was pregnant was priceless:

“The look on John's face when I told him we were pregnant was priceless. It was the look of a man who has wanted a family of his own but wasn't sure it was going to happen for him. Now it is!”

And Stamos' longtime co-stars couldn't be happier for him.

As Candace Cameron Bure, who played DJ Tanner on Full House, wrote on his Instagram post, she's “overjoyed” for the couple:

Yes Yes Yes!!! I'm overjoyed for you and Caitlin. You guys deserve nothing but the best. I can't wait to meet Billy! Can I come over tomorrow?

Stamos' representatives told People that both mom and baby are doing well and are already home from the hospital.
