When country star Tim McGraw collapsed onstage, there was one person there who wasn't going to take any chances with his health.

As Us Weekly reports, on March 11, McGraw and wife Faith Hill were performing in Dublin as part of the Country to Country Festival when he dropped to his knees. As a fan at the show told Entertainment Tonight, McGraw had just finished a song when he appeared to stagger and fall down:

“After singing 'Humble & Kind,' [McGraw] kind of knelt down, as if to take in the reaction, then went and sat down on the stage behind, then got up and this was semi-darkness when he stumbled and fell forward to the left side of the stage. He was helped up to his feet by a couple of people from backstage who ran out quickly and then by the band as well, and hurried off stage!”

While McGraw was treated backstage, Hill returned to the stage to address the waiting crowd. That's when she made it clear that — while her husband was not in danger — she wasn't willing to risk his health by continuing the concert.

McGraw and Hill have been married for 21 years and fans know their family and relationship come first — whether it's McGraw's ability to keep his eyes on his wife while everyone else is looking at her dress or his account of meeting his daughter's first date. So it's no surprise Hill made the call to end the concert when McGraw fell ill.

A video posted on YouTube captures the moment when Hill took responsibility for the decision to cut the performance short. She told fans:

“Tim is fine. We’ve all been a little bit dehydrated traveling so much. He’s been super dehydrated, and I apologize but I made the decision that he cannot come back out on the stage.”

As part of the festival, McGraw and Hill had traveled to three countries (and performed three concerts) in three days, with previous appearances in London and Glasgow.

Far from resenting Hill's decision, the audience was supportive and chanted “Get well, Tim.”

After reminding people to stay hydrated, Hill ended the announcement with a short a capella rendition of “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”

After the show, a representative of McGraw released a statement to Us Weekly confirming that the singer's collapse was caused by dehydration:

Tim McGraw was suffering from dehydration in Dublin this evening at the C2C show. He was attended to by local medical staff on-site and will be fine. He and Faith thank everyone for their love and support and look forward to seeing their Irish fans again soon.

Fortunately, McGraw appears to have recovered quickly. After arriving back in the U.S., he told TMZ that he'd been the victim of “lots of flying and dehydration" but that he plans to "shorten [his] workouts” in the future.

He'll also have plenty of time to rest before his next performance. McGraw and Hill don't resume their Soul2Soul tour until May 31 in Richmond, Virginia.
